 8:00 AM Basecamp & Anglers Club Fishing Seminar
Hot Springs Village Angler's Club wants to teach you proven methods on how to fish successfully in HSV Lakes. Covered topics will include the basics of rod and reel and fishing line selection, knot tying, and proven successful techniques for rigging and fishing various baits for catching bass, crappie, and bream. You'll have classroom instruction, as well as demonstrations on Lake Coronado, weather permitting. Cost is $20 per ticket and seating is limited. Tickets will be available in early 2020. Would you or someone you know love to traverse the Hot Springs Village trails, but can no longer do so? If so, this is the perfect event! The Hot Springs Village Trails Committee and Recreation Department is sponsoring the Explore on Wheels - a guided cart tour of a local HSV trail. This event is free and open to HSV residents and their sponsored guests.  8:30 AM Basecamp Hunt's Loop Hike
Join us for our annual Iron Springs Hunt's Loop Hike. We'll start the season of Spring out on the right foot (or left foot) as we hike the trail up to the lookout and then off to Moonshine Shelter and back down the mountain. The hike will be approximately 6 miles. The trail is classified as difficult due to the steep, rocky terrain on sections of the trail. We'll meet at Iron Springs Recreation Area at 8:30am. All age groups are welcome, but you must be able to physically hike the full 6 miles without assistance. This event is free. Registration is required. To register, go to HSVTicketSales.com.   HSV Trails Marathon Kickoff
The Hot Springs Village Trails Marathon is a month-long event. A list of trails will be provided - hike the trails and complete a full or half marathon during the 30 day period. You'll get to know more about our trails and maybe hike a few you've never experienced before. Registration forms will be available in Trailhead boxes in HSV during the dates of the event.  8:30 AM-1:30 PM Dam to Dam Hike
Join us for our 5th Annual Hot Springs Village Dam to Dam Hike. We'll begin with pre-hike stretching at the Balboa Beach and Spillway trail head, conducted by Coronado Fitness Center staff. After that, we'll hike from Balboa Spillway Trail to the Hernando Trail and, finally, on to the DeSoto Spillway Trail to the beach. From DeSoto Beach, we'll ferry across Lake DeSoto to Waypoint Marina, where we'll have a cookout on the point overlooking the lake. A shuttle will be available to take you back to Balboa Beach. The hike will be led by the legendary Jim Gifford! All age groups welcome, but you must be able to hike up to 10 miles without assistance. This event is free. Registration is required.  10:00 AM Basecamp Caddo River Kayak Float Trip
Join us for an 8-mile trip on the Caddo River in Glenwood, Arkansas. For this exciting kayak adventure, we'll be traveling down the Caddo River. We'll provide you with a kayak and paddling gear at the starting point in Glenwood. You may also bring your own kayak or drop off with us at Basecamp, and we'll shuttle it for you. We'll hit the river at 10:00am. Plan to be on the river about 6 hours, and possibly longer depending on the time it takes for us to paddle, take breaks, etc. Ages 16 and up allowed. You MUST be able to physically kayak without assistance for the duration of the trip. It is a requirement for this trip to pass a paddling ability test at the DeSoto Marina before you will be cleared to participate in this event. Register for this event at hsvticketsales.com. Basecamp Summer Youth Day will be located at the DeSoto Marina on June 18 from 9am until 12pm. This event is for children ages 9-15. Learn kayaking and stand up paddle boarding skills and safety tips while on Lake DeSoto. Basecamp will provide all watercraft and gear. Water will be provided, but please bring a snack. Class is limited to 15 children. Children must be able to swim unassisted. $15 per HSV Member Registration will be available in late Spring on HSVTicketSales.com.  6:00 PM-9:00 PM Bird Island Excursion on Lake Ouachita
Join us for our first tour of Bird Island on Lake Ouachita. It has been estimated that between 8,000 to 50,000 birds use this island every summer to feed before they migrate to South America. We may view nesting Purple Martins, Little Blue Herons, White Ibis, and Red Wing Blackbirds as they all use this island to roost and can be observed flying by the thousands every evening to shelter for the night. We will board a ferry at Lake Ouachita State Park and make way to the island for a tour of what the Audubon Society has designated an Important Bird Area (IBA). All age groups welcome.  9:00 AM Basecamp Caddo Bend Trail Hike
Join us for our final hike of the 2020 season. Come out and see Lake Ouachita State Park and enjoy an Arkansas Autumn afternoon. We'll meet at the Caddo Bend Trail head at 9am. Interpretation during the hike will be provided by State Park Rangers. The tour will last about 2-3 hours and covers the entire peninsula. It is about 4 miles of hilly terrain. The park labels this hike as strenuous, but there are shortcuts back to the visitor center if you choose not to hike the entire trail.
